Go Forth: Report on the Diocesan Review

Bishop Shane Mackinlay writes:

In May 2020, I engaged Mr Francis Moore to conduct a review of the strategic, consultative and administrative structures of the diocese. Despite the disruptions to physical meetings caused by COVID restrictions, Francis has undertaken wide consultation across the diocese, including a number of focus groups and personal interviews, conducted with the assistance of Ms Cathy Jenkins.

I am very grateful to all those who contributed to this consultation, and particularly grateful to Francis and Cathy for the conversations and reflection that they facilitated. Many people have commented to me about their appreciation of the opportunity to participate in this project.

Attached is the report of the review, which Francis has titled ‘Go Forth’, as a reminder that all these structures are in service of our mission. I welcome the report, and I particularly appreciate the clarity and practicality of its recommendations. It will provide invaluable assistance in planning how we focus and direct our activities and efforts in the years ahead.

I look forward to hearing feedback about the report and its recommendations, including at the clergy meeting that is scheduled for mid-January. I plan to begin responding to the recommendations and acting to implement them in the early months of next year.
