There has been some significant improvement in the prospects for asylum seekers and refugees since we gathered in 2022, but there are still thousands of refugees trapped in a limbo of temporary protection with no clear indication of a fair, just and compassionate pathway to permanent residence and citizenship. There is also no indication that the Federal Government has a clear plan to increase the refugee and humanitarian intake to make a fair contribution to addressing the worldwide pain that refugees of war and famine are suffering.
