Sisterly Visit a Heart to Heart at OLSH Elmore

Our Lady of the Sacred Heart (OLSH) Elmore’s Mission Carnival enjoyed an influx of thirteen Year 9 students from Our Lady of the Sacred Heart in East Bentleigh who led the school community in prayer before embarking on their face-painting and jewellery-making stalls.

The OLSH Bentleigh students were not the only big sisters to join the day’s activities; Sr Shirley Gallagher, who wasn’t going to miss out on any fun, returned to her hometown of ten years for the occasion.

The Mission Carnival which raises funds to support the work of the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart (DOLSH) Overseas, provided the perfect opportunity to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart and give thanks to the thirty DOLSH Sisters who served the Elmore community for over ninety years.

Sr Shirley was delighted to see the placing of a commemorative plaque next to 150 ceremonial roses, but even more delighted to witness the wonderful fraternal spirit of the two schools, a legacy of the DOLSH Sisters who desire to be women of heart, centered on the Heart of Jesus. As OLSH Bentleigh proclaims, “We are heart people.”
